I keep running into this problem myself whenever I move between workstations. I'm currently running Windows 8.0 Professional with Internet Explorer 10 (Desktop mode) and put the vCloud URL in my trusted sites (Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted sites -> Sites) and enabled compatibility mode (The broken page icon in the URL) before I could view the VM Remote Console (VMRC) on my current laptop. I had already installed the VMRC plugin earlier.
I've asked VMware support about compatibility and at the time it wasn't supported so have raised a feature request for Windows 8/IE10 support (especially now IE10 is available in Win7 too)
