It's funny how we focus on the difficult path when the easiest one is right in front of our faces 
Very interesting the fact that you commented that. I had to rebuild my vCloud Director and vShield Manager exactly because of "disable DRS" issue. I had no idea about the resource pools deletion 
VMware should come up with a big bells and whistles alerts about it or come up with a easier resolution for it.
